10 Items to Include in Your Hotel Guest Bags

Hotel guest bags are a special and fun way to add to your wedding day! These welcome bags are a sweet touch for out-of-town guests or, if your budget allows, every guest! Not only that, but your hotel guest bags can provide a glimpse of the festivities to come! There are some items we recommend go into every bag to create the best possible experience for your guests.

First, be sure to pack up all these items beautifully! Get a nice bag, preferably one that is reusable, and tissue paper in your color palette. For example, guests can use sturdy bags with handles, like canvas totes, again and again! And don’t feel like you need to fill it to the brim – guests don’t want too many items to take home in their already full suitcase. But here are the essential items:

Two Water Bottles

A long day of celebrating can really work up a person’s thirst! So, provide your guests with two full-size water bottles or one for each person in the room. For a personal touch, you can add a custom label.

Mini Hangover Kit

We all know that two drinks in over age thirty, and you’re destined for a hangover. The perfect hangover kit includes Tylenol, an electrolyte drink (we love Pedialyte!), and breath mints. Another fun idea is sunglasses, which you can get custom in your wedding colors.

Toothbrush and Toothpaste

This is the one thing everyone seems to forget when they’re packing. You can get the travel sizes that come paired together. We recommend you get one pack for each person in the room.

Razors

This is another item that people tend to forget but want on the day of a wedding. You can get one for him and one for her. Unisex razors for anyone also work!

Sunscreen and/or Mini Fan

Summer wedding? Outdoor ceremony? Let’s keep your guests’ skin healthy! Oftentimes, guests forget sunscreen, and trust us, they’ll thank you later! Adding in a mini handheld fan that they can bring to an outdoor event is another great touch! These are perfect for those hot summer sunset ceremonies.

Deodorant

Your hotel guest bags are all about providing your guests with anything they might need and might have forgotten. We love the travel-sized spray-on kind that you can share with more than one person and stay sanitary.

Something Local

This is an essential and fun item for your hotel guest bags! This can be anything from a small bag of coffee beans from a local coffee shop or honey from a local Sussex county farm. Taffy from the Jersey Shore is always fun. If your wedding area is known for anything in particular, we recommend that you share that with your guests!

Something Sweet and Salty

This is for that late-night craving that always hits after a wedding. Personally, we love champagne gummi bears and chocolate-covered pretzels. Simply going with potato chips and mini chocolate bars is great! Just try to accommodate allergies and sensitivities if needed.

Mini Champagne Bottles

This is such a fun touch to include in your hotel guest bags! You can ask your local liquor store if they can give you any discounts on a case. You can get even more personal and include a custom label or decorative bottles.

Handwritten Thank You Card

Be sure not to address anyone specifically. Hotel guest bags are typically just handed out to guests as they check in, and you don’t want to create any confusion! But a handwritten thank you note shows appreciation to your out-of-town guests and is an essential part of your welcome bag.

Bonus: Wedding Day Essentials

This means your wedding weekend itinerary, shuttle pick up/drop off times, and a list of nearby breakfast/brunch spots or coffee spots if you’re not hosting a get-together the day after the wedding. You want to make sure they have all the details they need!

For drop-off, make sure you have a hotel room block list printed so that the hotel staff can hand out everything easily. Add your wedding hashtag if you have one. You can drop off the hotel guest bags before the wedding day. If you have a wedding planner, they may be able to take this entire task off of your hands as an additional service, including drop-off! (We do this!)

Our favorite thing is helping couples plan their ideal wedding day and make their lives as easy as possible. We’d love to do the same for you! Send us a message, so we can get started!
