5 Tips For Your Outdoor New Jersey Wedding

If 2020 showed us one thing, it was the beauty of an outdoor New Jersey wedding. Outdoor weddings have beautiful tents and string lights. Not to mention, you can have your first dance at golden hour when your photographer can catch the perfect moment with the best lighting and most stunning backdrop. New Jersey is no longer tied to huge events at massive venues covered in marble. (Although, hey, if that’s your thing, invite us. Odds are, it’s run by a real Italian who is about to serve the most epic fresh mozz and penne vodka we’ve ever had.) But for real, outdoor tented weddings were all the rage, and we were living for it. Full disclosure: there are a few things you’ll need for your epic backyard event you may not have considered yet.

Restrooms

Yeah, this is the not-so-fun stuff. But all of those guests need a place to go! A space where you aren’t going to have to worry about cleaning or restocking. More importantly, trust us when we say you do not want septic tank issues at your wedding! So, ensure that you have enough stalls for the number of guests. We always recommend one stall per hundred guests for men and one per 50-75 guests for women. For some reason, the women’s line is always longer! No worries though. There are some kickass porta suites out there! You don’t need to get a typical porta potty, but rather a suite that is much more luxurious and created for special events. United Site Services has a great selection.

Generators

You’ll need power for your amazing outdoor New Jersey wedding. Check to see which vendors bring their own (typically catering/entertainment), but always make sure you have a backup! Odds are, you’ll need it. The last thing you want is no power bringing down your big day.

Sound Restrictions

Be sure to check with your town to ensure what time you need to stop playing music. In most cases, this is 10 or 11 PM. This will greatly affect your day, so knowing this upfront is helpful in determining your timeline. Plus, if you aren’t on ample land, it’s a good idea to let your neighbors know ahead of time that you’ll be hosting your wedding. This way there are no surprises, and hopefully, they can respect your celebration without any issues or concerns.

Garbage and Recycling

This is a huge detail that many people forget. Celebrations come with trash, and you need to know what you’re doing with it. Who will pick it up? Where will it be stored? (Beware of bears and other pesky animals!) When will it be picked up? These are all questions you need to make sure you can answer!

Parking

Another biggie for your outdoor New Jersey wedding. You need to have ample parking onsite. Don’t have a parking lot? Check if there’s one nearby that you can provide or recommend transportation from. Perhaps a nearby hotel guests will be staying at?

There are so many important details to think about when you’re planning a wedding, but especially an outdoor wedding. Luckily, we specialize in non-traditional weddings, and we would love to chat more about your day! Reach out to us, so we can get started!
