10 Tips for Grooms Receiving Men's Grooming Services
Recently, we partnered with Bello Barbers to offer specialized men’s grooming services to our grooms and their VIPs. We already spent some time on the blog discussing why these services are so helpful, so today we’re explaining how to prepare for them. Especially if this is your first time receiving professional grooming, there are a few rules of thumb you should know. Then, on the morning of your wedding, you’ll feel confident and prepared to look your best!
No Haircuts For a Week Beforehand
Hands off the scissors! You may be feeling pressured to show up with an already awesome haircut, but Bello Barbers has you covered. They’ll assess your features and give you your most flattering cut on the spot so you can rock the aisle.
No Shaving For 2 Days Beforehand
Yep, hands off the razor, too—especially if you have a beard or mustache. Bello Barbers will sculpt your facial hair to perfection for the best shave of your life. And, even if you prefer a clean-shaven look, it’s best to let the pros handle your last pre-wedding shave. No nicks or irritation here!
Arrive With Clean, Dry Hair
Even with hours for getting ready, your men’s grooming specialist is still working on a time crunch. Shampoo your hair either the night before or early in the morning and make sure that it’s completely dry before you sit down in the barber’s chair. Don’t apply any product beforehand, either. Plenty of it will be going in your finished hairstyle to ensure that it doesn’t budge throughout the day!
Have a Style in Mind
Unless you don’t care what your specialist does with your hair and/or beard, it’s best to arrive with an idea for a specific style already in mind. That way, you both can feel confident knowing you’ll like the end result. A picture always helps!
Dress Comfortably
It isn’t time to slip into your tux just yet! Select soft, comfortable garments for the time you’ll spend getting ready. However, avoid collared shirts such as polo tees since they can get in the way of a shave or haircut.
Got a Favorite Styling Product? Bring it Along!
Bello uses Muk, Go24/7, and Slick Gorilla for styling and shaving. They’re also happy to use the styling product of your preference! If there’s a cream or gel you absolutely swear by, bring it along and they’ll apply it for you.
Communication is Key
Receiving professional grooming should be a pleasant and relaxing experience, so if you’re ever uncomfortable, speak up! If your skin is prone to sensitivity, or if there are areas on your head that are sensitive or challenging, advise your barber beforehand. They want to know how to give you the best experience possible, but they can’t do so without your help!
We’ll Respect Your Barber’s Work
As barbers ourselves, we completely understand the loyalty that most guys feel toward “their barber.” Don’t worry—we’ll follow the shape that your preferred professional already established, and just clean up the lines a bit. The integrity of their work will remain intact while we get you ready for the big day!
Have Fun With It
Come prepared to have a good time! Whether that means chatting it up in the chair or just sitting back and relaxing for you, we’re here for it. No pressure at all!
Give Final Feedback
This is absolutely key! Assess your finished look and make sure that it’s exactly what you want. If there’s something you’d like tweaked, don’t be shy about letting your barber know. You’re going to look at these pictures for the rest of your life, so let’s love your style!
