Wedding Day Forget Me Nots
Let’s face it - wedding planning is wooooork. You have 100 million things to remember, & we get it; you’re only human. So, naturally, along your planning journey you will likely forget some things that are actually pretty crucial. Whether it be for your ceremony, reception or even your overnight stays, we wanted to highlight some key things that couples typically forget about so that you can be sure you have them crossed off on your list!
Toiletries – If you are planning to stay at a location other than your home the night before your wedding, you 100% need to make sure that you have your toiletry bag. Not just the essentials like your toothpaste and toothbrush, but you’re going to want to remember things like tweezers, hair removal item of your choice (razors, Nair, etc.), makeup remover, your makeup bag, lipstick, touch up powder, deodorant, Advil, etc. We’ve had various brides that forget the simplest of things and then, are in a panic on their big day, so we want to make sure you take a moment to pack them. However, if you happen to be working with us – just know we’ve got you covered with our emergency kit!
Cake Topper & Tools – It seems like such a trivial thing, but cake toppers and your tools to cut into your cake are actually a thing. People spend a decent amount of time looking up perfect cake toppers that fit their vibe – whether it be cute and rustic initials of your names or life-like bobble heads that sit atop your cake, make sure you order them with plenty of time to spare. (& then remember to add them to your packing list….and actually pack them!) Cake cutting tools are one of the biggest things that brides forget about. Most of the time, if your venue has an in-house caterer, they may be able to save the day. However, if you are using an outside caterer that isn’t providing your cake… you may have an issue. So, make sure you add this to your packing list too (…& again, actually pack it!)
Extra invitation suite & accessories– Your photographer will likely ask you the day of (and before, if they do this often) for a bunch of small detail items for your photos, one of them being an extra invitation suite. Invitations are such a small but yet intricate process of wedding planning, and it only makes sense that you should have an image captured of yours for your album. Additionally, you will likely want to allow them to take photos of any accessories and jewelry (other than the rings) that you will be wearing that day. Things like this can include your veil, hairpiece, bouquet ornament, bracelets, earrings, etc. A great example is that our lead planner, Brielle, had her blue antique jewelry box from her maid of honor displayed with her great grandmother’s blue sapphire earrings, which she wore on her day. If you can find something sentimental to include in your photos, you will definitely not regret it!
Champagne flutes – along with the cake cutting accessories, a big thing to remember is that it is customary to have special champagne flutes for you both to drink out of during the big day. A cool idea is to actually add these to your registry (& same for the cake serving accessories as well!) That way, you are sure to remember that you need them. Now, all you have to do is remember to pack them so you both can sip celebratory champagne as a bona fide married couple!
Your special notes to each other: This is a must- Make sure that you remember to pack your special notes/cards for one another along with any gifts you are exchanging. We actually have had a wedding where the bride forgot her card for her new husband – but we were able to dash back and get it for her before anyone knew what was happening! Forgetting this item is not great if you plan to exchange these sentimental items before your ceremony, especially for photographers and videographers if they have to adjust the time allotted in their schedule. So, add it to your packing list as it is a crucial part in your day!
So...now add these to that little note feature in your phone so that you can keep adding to it!
