10 Times We Helped Our Clients Avoid a Wedding Day Disaster

With over 18 years of experience planning weddings, we’ve encountered every wedding day disaster under the sun. Along the way, we’ve learned how to deal with any curveballs a wedding day throws at us. Before the couple even knows something’s wrong, we’ve got the situation handled!

There’s no doubt that these ten scenarios would have turned out differently if we hadn’t been on the scene. These are times that our team was, as we like to call it, presented with a rockstar moment. Anytime Mother Nature or another wedding professional decides not to take a couple’s day seriously, that’s our cue to step in! We ensure the couple won’t be bothered so their special day can go off without a hitch.

When the unexpected happens, your wedding planner’s job is to save the day—in secret. So, without further ado, here are ten times we avoided a wedding day disaster as only a seasoned wedding planner can!

Wedding Day (Almost) Disasters: That Time When…

1. The reception linens showed up stained and with cigarette holes (yuck). Our team got to work arranging the decor and table elements to hide every flaw! The finished product was stunning—just as planned.

2. The venue overbooked the ceremony space. Because we were the larger planning team, we took it upon ourselves to bring all hands on deck and design a ceremony from scratch. The preparations were completed right on schedule to avoid holding up the guests!

3. We caught the catering team going through a gift envelope (we’ve got eyes everywhere, people). We discreetly handled the situation while the bride and groom enjoyed drinks and dancing.

4. The bride’s dress caught on fire, and we sewed up the damaged section to look good as new. She was back out to the party in no time!

5. A bridesmaid tripped and fell into a well. We played nurse and provided all the first aid supplies needed from our trusty emergency kit. Once we were sure she was okay, we continued with the wedding day— without throwing off the timeline!

6. There was a freak downpour at an outdoor ceremony. We had umbrellas ready to go just in case and gave them to the couple. Meanwhile, we wiped down all the chairs so their guests could sit when the ceremony resumed.

7. The A.C. broke during a summer wedding. Against the venue’s wishes, we did everything needed to keep the couple and their guests comfortable.

8. We walked into the reception space to find all the tables set with incorrect linens. Immediately, we touched base with the venue team and got everything switched around. The couple walked in shortly after and were none the wiser!

9. The hair and makeup team’s work didn’t last. So, we channeled our inner glam (we also own an on-location beauty company!) and ensured the bride was picture-perfect before walking down the aisle.

10. The photographer refused to take a shot list. We told the couple to make one anyway, then communicated with the photo team throughout the day to ensure they would capture the key moments the couple was expecting.

These are just a few of the would-be wedding day disasters we’ve nipped in the bud! Hiring a planner may not guarantee that your wedding day goes according to plan. However, it will give you peace of mind knowing that your planner will be your resident problem-solver should difficulties arise. We’re on your side and want you to enjoy yourself while we take charge behind the scenes!
