10 Seasonal Touches for Welcoming Guests to Your Wedding Ceremony

Whether you’re saying “I do” in summer or winter, your guests’ comfort is key—especially if your ceremony is outdoors. As wedding planners, we’ve seen it all, from 90-degree days to freak downpours. So, today we’re sharing tips for welcoming guests to your wedding ceremony! A little thoughtfulness goes a long way, and your loved ones will be so grateful you prioritized their experience.

Welcoming Guests to Your Wedding Ceremony

Spring/Summer

  1. Customize regular or sparkling water bottles to leave on each guest’s seat. Pair it with a thank you note to let them know how grateful you are that they came! Providing water is a necessity if your ceremony will be outside.

  2. Get handheld fans “branded” to your wedding color palette. Or, splurge on a rechargeable fan for each guest! On a budget? Place fans in baskets at the entrance to your ceremony for guests to take as they enter. You can also opt to leave them in reserved rows for your VIPs.

  3. Gift a pair of colorful sunglasses to each guest. The last thing you want is everyone squinting at you as you walk down the aisle!

  4. Make bug spray available, especially if your ceremony will be near water.

  5. Lawn games are a great way for your guests to pass the time before and after your ceremony! Bring a few from home, or have a cornhole set customized with your wedding monogram.

  6. Dress shoes aren’t usually ideal for walking through the grass—especially stiletto heels! Provide flip-flops in various sizes so your guests can make their way to the ceremony location in comfort.

Fall/Winter

  1. Who doesn’t love a hot drink for cozying up in the cold? A hot chocolate bar with various toppings is the perfect way to welcome guests to your fall or winter ceremony. Plus, it’s kid-friendly!

  2. For a fall wedding, hot apple cider is a great seasonal alternative to hot chocolate.

  3. Provide a buffet of mini pies or dessert shots that are easy to hold and eat. Bonus points if the spoon and dish are edible to eliminate waste!

  4. Leave a blanket on each guest’s seat for extra warmth. Or, roll the blankets into bundles and set them in a basket for guests to take as they enter.

Welcoming guests to your wedding ceremony is as simple as anticipating their needs. Consider what you would appreciate in their shoes, then bring your ideas to your wedding planner!
