Must-Have Details To Bring For Your Getting Ready Pictures
One of those important photography moments you might not be thinking about is your details shots. You’ve spent so much time picking out those details that you want to make sure they’re captured! While you’re getting ready for your big day, your photographer will take some time to get all of those important photos. So, we wanted to go into what details to bring for your photographer.
For the ladies
Invitation suite
This is a big one! After all, your invitation suite represents the aesthetic of your wedding, and you want to make sure you have pictures of it. Odds are, you spent a lot of time picking out your invitations and making them perfect. So, be sure to show off your suite! Make sure to bring at least two sets of the full invitation suite, complete with envelope.
Save the date
Just like the wedding invitation, you’ll want to commemorate the save the date. It was the first glimpse your guests got of your wedding, so it’s definitely one of those details to bring for your photographer! We suggest bringing two Save The Dates.
Ring box
The rings are such an important part of your big day, so you’ll want to make sure you get pictures of them. Adding in a beautiful ring box (the more beautiful, the better) just enhances your photos.
Perfume bottle
A perfume bottle is a great touch to add to your wedding day detail photos. Use the prettiest bottle you can find to add something special to your photos.
Loose florals, ribbon, decorative tray, etc
This is anything that the photographer could use to ‘dress up’ the photos. Make sure everything works with your overall color scheme and vibe. Ask your florist to bring some loose blooms when they drop off your flowers! Occasionally, depending on the photographer, they might also have accessories that they bring, so you can always ask.
Anything monogrammed (leather or denim jacket, dress hanger, etc.)
If you had anything special made for the day, make sure it gets photographed! You want to make sure those details are captured properly.
Veil and any hair accessories
These are details you’ll be bringing anyway, but you want to make sure they’re included in the detail photos, especially if they’re extra special to you.
Any special memorial items
Memorial items could be anything, such as a locket or small photo that may be going on the bouquet. Or family jewelry that you will be wearing on the day. If you have specific items honoring the important people in your life, include them in your detail photos!
Bouquet
This is a must! Your bouquet is such an important part of your look. Your photographer is going to want to get some special photos of it. Make sure your florist drops off your bouquets prior to the photographer arriving so that your photographer can style them. Bridesmaids’ bouquets can also be beautifully detailed pictures, so it’s nice to have those ready as well!
Garter
If you’re wearing a garter, you’ll probably want to include it in your detail shots.
Shoes
Your shoes are one of those details to bring that you’re going to have anyway, but you’ll want photos of them along with your other accessories. If you plan on changing shoes later, make sure to have your prettiest pair ready for pictures.
For the men
Ring box
Just like for the ladies, you’ll want to have an attractive ring box for photos. Your rings deserve special attention!
Cuff links
This is one of those details to bring that you might not think about. Especially if you’ve got unique cuff links, you’ll want to make sure you’ve got photos of them.
Boutonnière
Similar to the bouquet, you’ll want amazing photos of that boutonnière. Make sure the florist drops off all of the boutonnières, including groomsmen or any other family members wearing one. This way, your photographer can get a few shots of the complete set!
Tie
The tie is another important part of a groom’s outfit, so you might want to capture it in photos. This is particularly true if it’s a unique or special tie! If the bridal party has matching ties, you can also have them all ready for pictures.
Any special memorial items
Make sure you’ve gathered those important items, so they can be properly celebrated in photos.
Shoes
You’ll want to capture all of those accessories, including your shoes!
Tips for preparing your detail shots
When it comes to getting ready for your wedding day details shots, you’ll want to make sure you have those details to bring and that everything is prepped and ready. Often, your wedding planner will assist and get all of these things together for you. But if not, you’ll want to assign a trusted VIP.
Be sure to have your flowers delivered to your prep room forty-five minutes to an hour prior to photo arrival so that they are there when the photographer arrives, and they can get started on detail shots. You’ll also want to make sure all dresses are steamed and ready to go. They should be placed on hangers already. And don’t forget to get stylish hangers! We love velvet or fabric hangers, or you can get simple wooden hangers.
Another great tip is to have beauty services being done in a room separate from where the photographer can set up & take photos. Just be sure that area is clean. Also, if the photographer is taking your dress out of your prep room, just be sure your fiancé isn’t roaming the halls where they can possibly see it!
These are just what we consider the essential details to bring so your photographer can capture them. Obviously, you can bring anything that’s significant to you that you want photographed.
